A Bit About Me
Josh Gordon is a first-generation Black British classical and operatic singer, whose journey in music is deeply rooted in the rich cultural heritage of the Windrush generation, to which his parents belonged. Born and raised in the UK, Josh discovered his passion for singing in the local church choir, where he first found his musical language and the transformative power of his voice.
Currently pursuing a master’s degree at the prestigious Royal Academy of Music, Josh is dedicated to honing his craft and expanding his repertoire. His love for performing on stage stems from his ability to use his voice as a tool for positivity and change. With a deep commitment to his community, Josh aims to be a beacon of representation and a role model, inspiring others to pursue greatness.
Throughout his career, Josh has captivated audiences with his rich, emotive performances and his ability to connect with listeners on a profound level. His extensive industry experience includes working as a session singer with Justin Timberlake at the 2018 Brit Awards, recording with Ellie Goulding, and performing at the 2024 Olivier Awards with Hannah Waddingham. Josh has also sung as a backing vocalist for the Manchester band James on their UK orchestral tour in 2023 and their UK “Yummy” Arena tour in 2024.
In addition to his work in classical music, Josh is a member of the renowned London Community Gospel Choir, where he continues to explore the dynamic range of his vocal abilities and share his passion for gospel music.
Josh is also a passionate educator, sharing his expertise as a vocal workshop facilitator and voice coach. He brings a wealth of knowledge from his industry experiences and hands-on experience as a professional singer, helping aspiring vocalists develop their skills and confidence. As a chorus mentor and facilitator with the Birmingham Opera Company, Josh has worked closely with adults from the Birmingham community, nurturing their talents and fostering a love for opera.
As he continues to develop his career in classical and operatic singing, Josh remains focused on using his talent to uplift and inspire, bridging cultural gaps and celebrating diversity through music.
